Pappu Pulusu / Simple Sambar

Pappu Pulusu
                             

Ingredients :

  • 1/2 cup Toor Dal
  • 1/2 lime size Tamarind
  • 1 Tomato chopped
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 2 Green Chillies
  • 3 Red Chillies
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • Salt to taste

For Popu :

  • 1/2 sp Mustard Seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1/4 sp Methi Seeds
  • 1 Red Chilli crocked
  • 1 pinch Hinghu
  • Curry Leaves
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Preparation :

  • Wash toor dal and add onion, red & green chillies.
  • Take tamarind, tomato in a separate bowl.
  • Pressure cook dal and tamarind in separate bowls.
  • Let it cool for some time & remove the lid.
  • Mash dal along with chillies & onion.
  • Mash tamarind and tomato into paste & add it to cooked dal.
  • Heat oil in a pan add popu & fry for 2mins.
  • When it splutter add curry leaves and dal mixture.
  • Add 2cups of water salt, turmeric powder and stir well.
  • Cook till it comes to boil & transfer into a serving bowl.
  • Pappu pulusu is ready & garnish with coriander leaves.
  • Serve with white rice or idly or chapathi.

Jeera Peas Pulav

Jeera peas pulav
                                     

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup Rice
  • 1/2 sp Ginger Garlic Paste
  • 1 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 1 Onion chopped
  • 1/2 cup Peas
  • 2 cups Water
  • Coriander Leaves
  • 2 sp Ghee
  • Salt

Method :

  • Take rice wash and soak in water for about 10 to 15mins.
  • Later strain it and keep aside.
  • Heat ghee in a pan add jeera and fry for 1min.
  • Next add ginger garlic paste, chopped onion and stir.
  • Once done add peas and fry for 1min.
  • Now add rice & stir couple of mins then add water, salt & mix well.
  • Transfer into a pressure cooker bowl or rice cooker bowl & cook.
  • When done remove the lid, mix well & transfer into a serving bowl.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves, jeera peas pulav is ready to serve.
  • Serve hot with curd chutney or vegetable gravy.

Karivepaku Podi / Curry Leaves Powder 2nd Method

Karivepaku Podi
                                       

Ingredients :


  • 1 cup Curry Leaves
  • 1 tbsp Urad Dal
  • 1 sp Cumin Seeds
  • 2" Tamarind Flake
  • 1 pinch Turmeric Powder
  • 4 Red Chillies
  • Salt to taste
  • 2 sp Oil

Method :

  • Heat oil in a pan add urad dal & fry for 2mins.
  • Next add cumin seeds, red chillies and fry.
  • Lastly add curry leaves and fry for couple of mins.
  • Turn off the flame and let it cool for some time.
  • Grind all the ingredients into a coarse powder.
  • Karivepaku podi is ready to serve.
  • Serve with rice, idly, dosa, pongal etc.
  • Store in an airtight container.
