Mango (Totapuri) Sambar

Ingredients :


  • 1 Mango
  • 1 cup Toor dal
  • Tamarind lemon size
  • 1 pinch Turmeric powder
  • 1 sp Red chilli powder
  • 2 Green chillies
  • 1 sp Sambar powder
  • 1 pinch Inguva
  • Salt

 For Popu :


  • 1/2 sp Mustard seeds
  • 1/2 sp Cumin seeds
  • 1 Red chilli crocked
  • Curry leaves
  • 2 sp Oil

Preparation :

  • Clean and soak tamarind in water and keep it aside.
  • Wash mango and cut into big pieces.
  • Pressure cook toor dal up to 3 whistles, turn of the heat.
  • When it cool remove the lid & mash it.
  • Heat oil in a pan add mustard, cumin seeds & red chili pieces.
  • It gets fry add curry leaves, green chillies & mango pieces.
  • Next add two cups of tamarind water and salt.
  • Add turmeric powder, red chilli powder, cook for 5 mins on medium flame.
  • Add mashed dal and sambar powder, inguva and stir well.
  • Cook for 8 mins on low flame turn of heat.
  • Transfer in to a serving bowl. Eat with steemed white rice & ghee.
