Ulli Garelu / Onion Vada

Ingredients :

  • 1 cup Urad Dal / Black Gram Dal
  • 1 big Onion
  • 4 Green Chillies
  • enough Salt
  • Curry Leaves chopped
  • Oil for deep fry

Preparation :

  • Wash soak urad dal for 2 hours and grind into a coarse paste with out water.
  • Grind green chillies, onion pieces into coarse paste ( kacha pacha ).
  • In a mixing bowl combine urad dal batter, salt and mix.
  • Add chopped curry leaves, onion mixture and mix thoroughly.
  • Heat oil in a frying pan, shape the batter into small vadas & fry until brown in color.
  • Remove from oil and drain them on a paper towel to drain excess oil.
  • Now ulli garelu are ready to serve, serve hot with chutney.
